After resident backlash, the Liberal Democrats at Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council were forced to publish a review into the performance of their Planning department. The findings were damning:
- Over 70% of planning applications were past their deadline, with the penalties running into the £1000's
- Currently fewer than half of staff roles are permanently filled
- Agency costs quadrupled through 2021 costing local taxpayers thousands
- Staff turnover was at 50%, triple that of comparable neighbouring councils
Is it any wonder developers are flooding to build in Hinckley and Bosworth?
That is why the Bosworth Conservatives are running a petition, calling on the Liberal Democrats to do the decent thing and get a grip of their Planning Department. Leave your details below to join the campaign.
"We the undersigned are deeply concerned about the level of speculative housing applications in our area as a result of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council's failure to have a Local Development Plan.
We call upon Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council to expedite its Local Development Plan to ensure that villages in Hinckley and Bosworth are given the protections needed against overdevelopment."
